	Jim Kaighn was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1947. He relocated to North Carolina in 1967 and went into the Insurance Business in 1968 collecting on debt with Durham Life & Coastal Plains Insurance and later with Pilot Life until 1981 when he started his own agency.
Jim graduated from college of the Albemarle in 1973, and in 1975 from Elizabeth City State University with a BSBA in Business Administration. In 1988 Jim received his Brokers License in Real Estate. Jim's credentials include: The Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) designation is the undisputed professional credential for persons involved in the sale and service of disability income and health insurance. Individuals earning the RHU designation demonstrate a high level of knowledge about the principles and practices governing the disability income and health insurance business.
	The CHFC program focuses on the comprehensive financial planning process as an organized way to collect and analyze information on a client's total financial situation; to identify and establish specific financial goals; and to formulate, implement, and monitor a comprehensive plan to achieve those goals. The CHFC program provides financial planners and others in the financial services industry with in-depth knowledge of the skills needed to perform comprehensive financial planning for their clients. Since its inception in 1982, more than 40,000 men and women have met the educational, experience, and ethics mandates needed to earn the CHFC designation.
